How to stay healthy while working from home

Staying healthy while working from home has its perks: increased flexibility, the ability to create a comfortable workspace, and no daily commute. However, it's easy to fall into sedentary habits that can harm our health.

Here are some practical tips to stay healthy while working remotely:

How to stay healthy while working from home

Incorporate short walks into your routine

Taking short walks is a great way to stay active. As a virtual assistant, you can take advantage of your job's flexibility by integrating walks before, during lunch, and after your workday.

Work standing up

Alternating between sitting and standing while working can help reduce muscle pain and improve your posture. Adjustable desks are available at affordable prices at places like Ikea and Conforama. If not, there are options like desktop stands to raise your computer and allow you to work standing.

Work on a bike

This option requires a small budget but is highly effective. Personally, I work on my bike every week! I bought a stationary bike (bike erg) and found an adjustable desk (Relaxdays multifunctional desk) to place above it. It's a great way to pedal while working.

Schedule regular workout sessions

One of the biggest advantages of working from home is the flexibility. Use this to your advantage by blocking out time slots for workout sessions! Whether it's in the morning, at noon, or in the evening, we all know how important it is to stay active. I'm a CrossFit enthusiast, so my workout is a daily ritual and a habit. I organize my work around these sessions, not the other way around. Find a time that works for you and organize your work schedule around it. For those based around Nyon, come drop in with me at CrossFit Essentia ;)

It's clear that staying healthy while working from home requires planning and discipline. And don’t get me started on the fridge in the room next door — that’s a story for another day, but that also requires discipline!

Either way, by incorporating short walks, using a standing desk or a desk bike, and scheduling regular workout sessions, you can maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle while being an efficient virtual assistant. Take advantage of your flexible job to prioritize your physical and mental well-being!

It is important to take care of yourself!

I hope my advice will be useful to you.
